In the context of energy-saving and comfortable living, the days of the radiator are over. In the near future, housing will no longer be built without under-floor heating. Austria and Switzerland are quite a few years ahead of us in this respect. As well as being ‘under-floor heating countries’, they are also outstanding ‘parquet countries’. Traditional methods for laying parquet (glue and cement) have difficulties with this combination. Elastilon Lock was therefore developed for use in these countries. When using Elastilon Lock, the under-floor heating system and the parquet system form a fully integrated unit, in which every smallest part of a square millimetre joins the systems together completely and perfectly. |

The “Entwicklungs- und Prüflabor Holztechnologie (Development and Testing Laboratory for Wood Technology) EPH” in Dresden and the “Institut für Fussbodenbau (Institute for Floor Construction) IFF” in Koblenz have tested every detail of the developed system. The results of these test reports and the quality certificate can be found below.

General conditions for installing a floor on an ELASTILON® base
The space for installation needs to be completely empty and clean. The relative humidity needs to be between 40% and 65%. Temperature should be at least 16°C. The moisture content of the base floor should not exceed 3,9%.
A cement or concrete base needs to be level with a maximum defect of 2% measured under a 'row' of 1,5 metre (59”). A wood base floor needs to be sufficiently level and stable.
The expansion gaps at walls etc. depends on the total width of the floor, the characteristics of the hardwood and its moisture content, the system and the maximum relative humidity to be expected in the room.

The demand for parquet and strip floors in apartments and flats increases considerably year for year. Stringent demands are placed on these floors, however, with regard to the reduction of impact noise, often 10 dB. In this context, Elastilon BV
is a regular customer of the Peutz acoustic consulting company. Peutz, an institution recognised by the government, was selected at the time because of its extensive expertise and its international reputation. As well as the Netherlands, the company also has branches in Paris, London and Düsseldorf, and this is very important for a product such as Elastilon.
For some considerable time now, at the request of Elastilon BV, this company has been conducting regular research into the improvement of impact noise in accordance with the ISO 140-8:97 standard that applies to all the countries in the European Union.
This investigation includes series of 15 to 18 measurements a day, because, as is well-known, every different combination leads to a different result.
It is therefore a misconception that a specific reduction of the impact noise value can be attributed to a certain type of insulating underlay; it is always necessary to add that a specific value was obtained for a specific combination of underlay with a specific type of parquet or strip floor.

We would like to add here that if a floor for which the impact noise reduction has not yet been determined is specifically requested for an apartment, this type of floor could be included in the next series of daily measurements in order to obtain the required and necessary confidence and clarity in this respect.
